I bought a used car from a dealer and discovered a serious defect two days later. What evidence should I keep?

Keep the sales invoice, advert, warranty, inspection report, payment evidence and all messages with the dealer. Photograph or document the defect and avoid unnecessary repairs that could destroy evidence.

Ask the dealer formally to address the problem and preserve the vehicle's condition where practical.
